During the production of 2-layer fabrices a membrane is laminated onto the outer fabrice. This membrane needs to be protected against abrasion on the inside with an additional lining. The lining has an additional effect in protecting the skin from direct contact with the membrane, thus eliminating the perspiration.
Marinepool´s innovative Stretch-Line of functional clothing sets new standards. Three layer stretch material makes body conscious design possible, the result: clothing that follows the body´s contours, is lighter and optimizes freedom of movement.
Fabric description:
On top of the MARINEPOOL XPU-Membrane we laminate a special outside and an inside fabric. The outside fabric is of tough, hard-wearing Nylon and gives the clothing it´s robust, abrasion resistant qualities. The inside fabric protects the membrane from damage. The PU coating on the membrane is the perfect protection against salt crystals and makes sure the fabric does not get clogged when the gear is used offshore.
All fabrics are thoroughly tested by our professional teams in challenging conditions- races like the VendéeGlobe, Route du Rhum, Around Alone).
The fabrics are exceptionally abrasion resistant, highly breathable and therefore ideal for use in offshore conditions. All seams are sealed under heat and pressure with XPU-Tape guaranteeing 100% waterproof gear. Some producers use stretch inserts for certain parts of a suit only, but to take full advantage of the outstanding qualities of stretch fabric it is necessary to produce the whole suit of stretch material and also to pay special attention to design and the direction and positioning of seams and design features.
A garment is considered waterproof according to German standards as soon as it can withstand the pressure of a watercolumn of 1,300mm of hight. But waterproof is not always the same. There is a substantial difference in requirements for a stroll in light rain in the afternoon or the hardship on bad weather at sea. The pressure on the fabric ie when seated or kneeling is substantially higher and in these situations 1,300mm are by far not enough to ensure the body stays dry. Functional fabrics in the Marinepool collection have a waterproofness between 4,000mm and 30,000mm of water column, depending on the purpose for which they are designed, thus keeping the wearer totally dry. Wind, Kälte und Luftfeuchtigkeit beeinflussen die Körpertemperatur und damit auch das Wohlbefinden und die Leistungsfähigkeit.
Extreme Wasserdichtigkeit
Beim Wassersport sind die Anforderungen an die Bekleidung besonders hoch, denn beim Sitzen oder Knien entsteht ein wesentlich höherer Druck als bei anderen Freizeitaktivitäten.
Die Marinepool XPU-Membrane lässt auch unter extremen Bedingungen kein Wasser durch und hält den Körper dauerhaft trocken.
Sie ist ebenso winddicht und verhindert somit die Auskühlung des Körpers. Oberstes Ziel der Membrane ist es, auf der einen Seite eine Überhitzung des Körpers bei hoher Aktivität zu vermeiden und auf der anderen Seite in Ruhephasen vor Auskühlung zu schützen.
Hohe Atmungsaktivität
Die XPU-Membrane gewährleistet einen schnellen Feuchtigkeitsabtransport bei hoher körperlicher Belastung und verhindert somit die unangenehme Feuchtigkeitsbildung innerhalb der Bekleidung. Das Körperklima bleibt somit im Gleichgewicht. Auch nach vielen Wäschen und extremen Anforderungen bleibt dieses System in Funktion.
