Marinepool at the „Spi Ouest France“: the 2013 race season is launched!

Created in 1978, the Spi Ouest France has become an institution on the French Atlantic coast and a meeting place for thousands of sailors for the past 35 years. Like every year at Easter, from 28 March to 1st April, the monohulls will be honored at La Trinité-sur-Mer, a marina nestled a few miles from the Gulf of Morbihan and well known for its exceptional stretch of water.

This competition, which is now the largest gathering of yachts with a cabin in Europe, symbolically kicks off the race season. Over 3000 sailors onboard 500 boats divided into 15 different classes will guarantee a great show in the middle of the Bay of Quiberon. Its specificity: the Spi Ouest France brings together anonymous and professionals. The amateurs get the chance to compete with sailing´s top names like teams supported by Marinepool who will be at the starting line onboard the M34.

Courrier Dunkerque led by Daniel Souben, will try to reach the podium after having already won this race 3 times in a row. Oman Sail with Cédric Pouligny has also every reason to be among the favorites.

The "Spi", the first of five races of the Volvo DRIVe Race

The French Sailing Federation will also attend this first spring race. The Volvo Drive Race, resulting from the partnership between Volvo and the FFV, is made of five major events of the M34 program. It will be launched with the Spi Ouest France and will end with the Med Race next September.
