news - Start of the Normandy Sailing Week

June 04 2013

The Normandy Sailing Week starts this morning at Le Havre in France and hosts until June 9th ten boat series and almost 800 sailors on the waters of the Bay of Seine.

For the M34, hostilities begin today with the launch of an offshore race of 230 miles from and to Le Havre. The fleet composed of 9 boats will have to sail around the Isle of Wight and are expected to return to Le Havre on Wednesday. Then they will compete during 4 days on technical coastal races. The Marinepool Racing Team, composed of Courrier Dunkerque with Daniel Souben and Oman Sail with Cédric Pouligny, will be on the start line against other great competitors of the boat class. The Normandy Sailing Week provides a foretaste of the Tour de France à la Voile which will set sails from Dunkirk on June 28th.

In the J80 class, Marinepool will have 6 ambassadors with the Oman Sail´s all-women team. Onboard Al Thuraya Bank Muscat, it will be a great opportunity for them to train and improve their boat handling skills before their upcoming participation in the J80 Worlds next July in Marseille.
