Germany wins Offshore Team World Championship

The noble Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, one of the leading yacht clubs in the world, located on Sardinias "smaragd" coast in Porto Cervo, is traditionally host of one of the most prestigious events in sailing. Going back to 1978 the YCCS has organized the team world championship ever since and this year Germany was able to win the "Audi Sardinia Cup 2010 ISAF Offshore Team World Championship"

Eight teams from 7 nations, each composed of a Farr 40 and a Melges 32, were sailing for glory and medals and the line up was reading like the who-is-who in offshore sailing, including the top three teams of the past Farr 40 and Melges 32 world championships.

Team Germany pulled off a convincing performance and Wolfgang Schaefer´s Farr 40 "Struntje Light" and the Melges 32 "Teasing Machine - Marinepool" owned by Jean Francois Cruette and helmed by Marinepool Racing Team member Pascal Rambeau won their respective classes and the overall score by a ten point margin!

Another Marinepool team, Fantastica, sailing in one team with Nerone, silver medallist in the 2009 Farr 40 world championship and one of the favorites finished in 4th.
