news - Atlantic Rowing Race 2009: Half-time in Atlantic crossing

Feb 10 2010

Here the Feb. 9 blog directly from the rowing boat: Today is "Marinepool day"

We have been doing well with our daily distances with the wind behind us and should cross below the 1,300miles to go mark later today. Got absolutely soaked during m,y last shift when it rained for nearly an hour. With the sky grey ,the sea greyer and lots of rain it reminded me of a day at the Britsh sea side, albeit it was 20 plus degrees.

Have been listening to some James Bond audio books read from the original books which has been good and makes the 3 hour shifts pass more quickly. Have also been listening to some Bob Marley to get me in the Carribbean mood. Having listened to the track ‘Don’t worry, be happy (everything is gonna be alright)’ several times I think this should be adopted as the anthem of ocean rowers. It sums up the optimism needed to complete a challenge like this where you have to have faith that things really will be alright even if at the time the may be difficult.

Tomorrows row is dedicated to our clothing sponsor Marine Pool who supplied wet weather gear for us together with base layers and mid layer. Many thanks to all at Marine Pool for their generous support!
