news - Marinepool partners up with the F18 World Championship

July 01 2010

Marinepool Racing Team among the hottest contenders for F18 title!

July 3-10 will see some of the most spectacular sailing this year, with the F18 class fighting for glory and medals. Marinepool is partner of the event and supports a formidable squad! After the loss of Olympic status for the Tornado multihull the F18 has prospered and drawn a lot of talent. For the 10th world championship anniversary the F18 is back to it´s birth place at the French Atlantic coast.

Supported by the producers of the box rule speed machine (15 all together) and some of the former top sailors in Tornado, the class has become THE multihull to be in. Fast and spectacular the class draws huge fleets - the organizers expect 150 boats this time -  for it´s top events and the world championship in Erquy, France is no exception.

Marinepool is represented by a high-class group of sailors, lead by record multihull champion Darren Bundock of Australia sailing with Will Howden, who set his sight on his "lucky" thirteenth world championship title. He also won two silver medals in the Sydney and Athens Olympic games respectively.

The second renown team from the former Tornado scene are Dani Paschalidis and Kostas Trigonis. The Greeks were European Champions at the hight of their Tornado career and are in good form.

Furthermore there is the French squad of Vauchel Thibault/ Le Peutrec, Jeremie Laguarrigue/ Besson Willy and Morvan Francois/ Vandame Matthieu as local heroes in the game.

Racing commences on July 5.
