news - Grand Prix Guyader in Douarnenez (FR)

Apr 30 2014

The 15th edition of the Grand Prix Guyader will take place in Douarnenez from 2 to 11 May. A popular and festive event that invites many monohull boats (Imoca, Class 40 and Mach 6.5), the fastest multihulls and about fifty Dragon boats whose skippers consider the Grand Prix Guyader as a world reference of their circuit.

Windsurfs, kiteboards and other foil machines will add some entertainment on the water as they will attempt to break speed records alongside the greatest racing boats.

The competition will provide exciting battles on the water with participating crews supported by Marinepool. As a prelude to the Tour de France à la Voile - main event this summer for the M34 fleet, Courrier Dunkerque skippered by Daniel Souben as well as Omansail skippered by Sidney Gavignet will have to face stiff rivals like Franck Cammas´ crew onboard Groupama.

Damien Seguin, whose main objective will be the solo Route du Rhum next November, will race for the first time of the season with its brand new Class 40 boat against 10 other competitors in this category.

Ashore, the entire city of Douarnenez will be celebrating. The organisers of the Grand Prix Guyader have planned this year again lots of entertainments for the public.
