16th June 2013 - HM Queen Silvia Trophy, the coveted crystal vase that has chosen the Queen of Sweden herself, this year goes to the crew of "Alfie" with helmsman Lawrie Smith and his crew Tim Tavinor, Ossie Stewart. "This was the best regatta we have ever been part of. A great organization - whenever we came from the water, there was a small party with drinks and food - plus the BMW Racing Parcour, which was very varied. Special thanks go to the race officer, and my crew ", Lawrie Smith, reigning world champion and Volvo Ocean Race sailor, said at the price giving ceremony.

"A thoroughly beautiful and world-class event with first-class races. Yesterday and today we even had real dragon weather, with wind from the southwest direction, that means coming from the land, it is not easy to sail, as it turns quickly. That was really exciting until the end. Kühlungsborn is a very attractive and beautiful place for the dragon fleet. We now need a little work together behind the scenes, but the characters that we come back next year are very good", said Rupert Fischer, Commodere the German Dragon, at the price giving ceremony.

Also Bernd Döpke BMW AG, international vice president of corporate and direct sales, was enthusiastic about the event: "In particular, the dynamics of the race with many lead changes at the top has pleased me very well - with Lawrie Smith, this year's BMW Dragon Grand Prix has a worthy winner. With our presentation the sailing regatta interested were constantly informed about the tension on the water". Moreover Döpke turned out the honest partnership to the organizers, the organizing Sailing Club Kühlungsborn, Touristik Service Kühlungsborn and all regional partners. "We felt very welcome and it was a fun and relaxed atmosphere." The winner Lawrie Smith was coveted next to HM Queen Silvia trophy, even though a road bike: the BMW M Carbon Racer. In addition, the three sailors were given a Tutima watch and prices of clothing partner Marinepool. Moreover, Marinepool equipped the 60 volunteers of the organization team with functional clothing for the event.

Robert Stark, CEO of Marinepool, has confirmed its commitment to the BMW Dragon Grand Prix already for the next years. The best German team mate Thomas Mueller has qualified for the finals of the BMW Club Cup in late October in Torbole on Lake Garda.

With the donations of businesses and sailors, the organizers can announce that this year the magic mark of one million euros was cracked. The money goes to the CHILDHOOD Foundation of Queen Silvia - the donations were collected together in the past nine years. "Anything beyond this million goes to the flood victims from Germany. That's over 3000 Euros", said the main organizer, Manuela Libor.
