Team from "Muenster" wins the German final of the BMW Sailing Cup 2013 in Torbole, Italy.

Winner of the qualification regatta in the German city "Muenster" accomplishes rank 1 in German final.


Skipper Martin Klüsener and his Team including Susanne Lehmann, Christoph Dammann, Patrick Losch and Cord Artmeier, won the German Final of the BMW Sailing Cup 2013 in Torbole, Italy, and qualified thus for the international final of the BMW Sailing Cup 2013, which will be held in the upcoming springtime 2014. The crew from the German city "Muenster" has competed successfully against eight other crews, which were the corresponding winners of the regional BMW Sailing Cup qualification regattas for the seasonal highlight, the German Final, at Lake Garda in Italy.

For the first time ever, the German Final of the BMW Sailing Cup 2013 was hosted in Italy at Lake Garda. The Lake Garda is undeniably a challenging sailing area with good wind and weather conditions for such a final. Indeed, as expected the sailing conditions were perfect for the BMW regattas. For 3 days, from October 11 - October 13, 45 participants competet against on identically constructed J80s, which were sponsored by BMW, against each other. As a consequence, the teams had to proof their sailing skills and strategic way of thinking for beeing successful. Finally, the team with the most consistant performance was able to achieve victory. Victorious skipper Martin Kluesener said "it was a phantastic experience with 3 exciting days full of sailing and competition. We are keen on participating in the International Final and we are looking forward to represent Germany there."

Besids of the BMW Sailing Cup regattas, the participants and their accompanying friends and families were able to enjoy a varied excursion and social programm over the three racing days. Thereby, the BMW Yachtsport Dinner at Hotel Lido Palace was undeniably the highlight of the entire week end. Furthermore, BMW arranged car support for the transfer from Germany to Italy on request of the participants and provided even for the youngest pleasure of driving through the BMW Baby Race and the BMW Mini xDrive Parcours.

Since 2007 the winners of the national regattas of the BMW Sailing Cup has been competiting in the International Final against each other. Previous destinations were Valencia (Spain), Dubai, Malcesine (Italy), Auckland (New Zealand), Cascais (Portugal), Istanbul (Turkey) and Portoroz (Slowenia). The upcoming International Final of the BMW Sailing Cup season 2013 will take place in the springtime in 2014; however, the host is not yet announced.
