May 30 2016

Sailing Team Germany´s most reliable medal collector did it again and in style. Heiko Kröger dominated the World Championship in the 2.4m Paralympic class and won his 8. (!) title against 29 competitors. A perfect dress rehearsal for the Games later this year in Brasil.
"This title was hard work and is a boost to my self confidence. Great I could show that I am able to sail at this level for a whole event after all the preparation for Rio. Now I am looking forward to the next big race on our home waters, Kiel Week."
Silver went to the second Marinepool supported athlete in the event, French 2.4m and offshore veteran Damien Sequin while Austrian Sven Reiger finished 11th.
The second German team in the Sonar World Championship finished an excellent 5th. They had only 5 weeks together after standard crew Robert Prem dropped out due to illness. Lasse Klötzing who comes from the 2.4m class took the helm and Jens Kroker moved from the helm to the position in the middle of the boat while Sigi Mainka remained bowman. A solid result that lets us hope for more.
Congratulations to Heiko and Damien!
