Courrier Dunkerque, second of the Normandy Sailing Week

The 7th edition of the Normandy Sailing Week finished this weekend at Le Havre.

500 sailors have competed in many races, up to 13 for the M34 fleet. Over the years the Normandy Sailing Week has become a classic race of the M34 circuit, giving the teams the opportunity to participate in the first race of the French Crew Offshore Racing Championship.

For the M34, the race has been intense and athletic. On Tuesday, the boats of the Tour de France à la Voile started from Le Havre an offshore race of 235 nautical miles via the Isle of Wight. This new race format has been very appreciated by the competitors as a rehearsal for the Tour de France à la Voile. The Omani onboard “BAE Systems” have won the offshore race after 27 hours of sailing in the tricky currents of the Channel.

Then, the monohulls have competed in tactical races. In this game, the South French team Toulon Provence Méditerranée, skippered by Fabien Henry, has been the strongest. They already won the Spi Ouest France and the Grand Prix de l´Ecole Navale. As Courrier Dunkerque skippered by Daniel Souben, who reachs the second place, they both are favorites for the upcoming Tour de France à la Voile.
