By cutting the finish line in Fort-de-France 13h 05min 05 sec (local time) at 19h 05min 05sec (Paris time), Nicolas Lunven (Generali) won the first edition of the Transat Benodet - Martinique. With an average of almost 9 knots between Brittany and the Caribbean island, the Figaro Beneteau 2 makes a demonstration of their trans-oceanic ability. After 3,474 miles of ocean racing, it was not until the final miles that we knew the winner. Two years after his victory on the Figaro, Lunven has notched up another impressive single handed victory.
With the exception of two gales - the first off Cape Finisterre, the second at the Western Azores, the weather has been on the side of soloists end to end. But these two episodes ruined the hopes of two serious contenders and a promising rookie - Eric Drouglazet (Luisina) finding himself forced to retire following his dismasting and Gildas Morvan (Cercle Vert) and Frederic Rivet (Vendee 1) broke stays.
Many arrivals are expected in the next thirty hours ...

Nicolas Lunven (Generali) Wins Transat Benodet, Delahaye fourth, Attanasio 6th

By cutting the finish line in Fort-de-France 13h 05min 05 sec (local time) at 19h 05min 05sec (Paris time), Nicolas Lunven (Generali) won the first edition of the Transat Benodet - Martinique.

Two years after his victory on the Figaro, Lunven has notched up another impressive single handed victory.

Fabien Delahaye on ORT DE CAEN OUISTREHAM of the Marinepool Racing Team had been leading the pack several times but lost out on the leaders in the second part of the race finishing fourth in the highly competitive 17 boat fleet. 6th was Romain Attanasio, another member of the Marinepool Racing Team on SAVIOL

The race was incredibly tight, with the first three boats separated by only 5 minutes (!) after a tough Atlantic crossing.
