ORC regattas of the 77th North Sea Week: Two world champions and a manufacturers dominate
The ORC regattas of the North Sea week were dominated by five yachts. Including two world champions in the group ORCi1 and ORCi2. Yachts of the shipyard X-Yachts from Denmark were the strongest. On land,  the north sea week offered the sailors great parties and also many services like the weather report or picture service.
Every year since 1922 the North Sea week takes place on Pentecost. Since 1925, around Helgoland on the North Sea. Various feeder regattas also brought this year about 160 yachts to the island. Then on Whitsun monday and sunday four big regattas were battled on open sea and ashore celebrated together on Helgoland. Additionally on Whitsun Monday, there started regattas back to the coast and also one long distances-regatta. This year the long distance went from Helgoland to Edinburgh. This race alternates each year with the Pantaenius Round Skagen race which takes place again in 2012. The Edinburgh regatta is the qualification regatta for the Fastnet Race.
Main sponsor of the North Sea Week is the boot Düsseldorf. Marinepool is also engaged for several years in the North Sea Week and sponsors as a part of their commitment the complete clothing for the orga team and also the teams on the water.
Already On Friday, 50 yachts started to Cuxhafen in the traditional feeder race, which has been held since 1910. There the 77th North Sea Week was officially opened.
In the SE Vibe Out Series in the group ORCI1 the Nova Elena with Christian Plump aboard could prevail by the open sea race Hummer 1 und Hummer 2 and won all three regattas.
In the group ORCi2 won - also in all three races – the patent3. Thus secured the incumbent world champion Jürgen Kling with his coxswain Jens Tschentscher the overall victory of the SE Vibe Out Series. Accessorily the patent3 won the BHF-Bank-Cup around Helgoland in the ORCi2 group. Therefore the patent3 was one of the most effective yachts at the North Sea week.
In addition to the ORC, the North Sea Regatta Week offered this year the Family Cruiser Cup once again. At the family-cruiser-cup regatta beginners, families or such crews which will take it easy could take part. The Family Cruiser Cup won Olaf nickel (SYCH) from Westerland.
