Thomas Normand has arrived in Saint Gilles last night, second leg of the Solitaire du Figaro
At his arrival in Saint Gilles, second stopover of the Solitaire du Figaro, the skipper onboard “Financière de l´Echiquier” retains his leader Bizuth position. He crossed the line at 1.28 am last night after 2 and a half day of intense racing, finishing 28th of the overall ranking. The young skipper has fought all his way from Spain to Saint Gilles to maintain his advance against the other skippers involved in the Bizuth ranking.
"It was a very challenging race, I almost didn´t sleep, about three times during 15 minutes! I didn´t manage to bring the boat forward as I wanted, I wasn´t fast enough and I still don´t know why. I did my best to stay among the fleet with the other competitors and above all to keep my leading position in the Bizuth ranking. From now, I will have to check all the settings onboard. I´m exhausted, I really need a rest in a dry bed!”
Next leg on July 8th from Saint Gilles to Cherbourg, a total of 486 nautical miles.
