The Hanse Sail 2012 presents premier guests and surprises
„Cast off towards Rostock“ is what a grand fleet of traditional sailing vessels, museum and cruise ships does on the 2nd week of August, as well as the current federal president of Germany, Mr. Joachim Gauck, who will receive the honorary citizenship and will afterwards visit the Hanse Sail 2012.
The same interest in Rostock counts for many local polititians from Schwerin, such as the patron of the Sail, the Ministerpresident Erwin Sellering, for polititiants from the international partner cities of the Hanseatic city and for more than 500 business representatives from the whole country, who will communicate and network off- and onshore at the “Business meets Hanse Sail” forum.
From all over Germany hundreds of participants gather on the stages as well as carneys and showmen on the international market. Numerous clubs, among others canoniers, divers, and philatelists can present themselves in front of a big audience.
Finally also about one million visitors feel attracted by the event, who have to choose from an abundant program of on- and offshore activities as well as from activities in the air such as sailing trips, ferris wheel or trips in a water airplane from Rostock-Marienehe. The 22nd Hanse Sail will be literally a folk festival, a national and international magnet for all generations – from key polititians to our children.
MARINEPOOL is a proud partner of the Hanse Sail since this year. Cooperations with world class teams and events are an imortant component of MARINEPOOL`S marketing strategy.

The maritime surprise: 222 Ships for the 22nd Hanse Sail
Traditional vessels have been in the center of the maritime event for more than two decades. Their fascinating charme is further encouraged in this year’s Sail 2012 because of some positive and unexpected surprises. In the middle of July there were about 200 ships in the participating list. Such a high number was unexpected since the Olympic Games in London are taking place simultaneously. Just before the Hanse Sail, 222 Vessels were registered for the maritime event. At the last minute an original “Olympic Particiant”, the four-masted barque „Kruzenshtern“, registered, so that it together with the
premiere guest „Star Flyer“ forms a “115-meter-pair“. The „Kruzenshtern“, built in 1926, is the last cargo sailor of the legendary P-line-series from the first quarter of the 20th century that is still on the job. “Sail with us!” is possible on this famous windjammer as well as on additional tall ships during all days of the event.
The onshore program: Classical folkloric offers and calm moments
The Hanse Sail is not just “on” the water a unique experience but also offers a great atmosphere from the onshore perspective at the city harbor, from the silos to the former Neptun shipyard, from the passenger quay to the promenade in Warnemünde visitors will encounter classical folkloric offers
throughout the whole event area. With overall three ferris wheels, numerous fairground rides for adults and kids and regional products for both body and soul, everybody will enjoy this amazing program.
The sailing stadium: water sports to look at and to try out
That next to the brigs, barquentines and schooners also the younger siblings, the sportboats, exist is proven by the growing attractiveness of the sailing stadium near the former Neptun shipyard. On the newly built terrace one can sit in the first row during the events of the Sail-days such as the waterskiing
show or the diverse program of competitions on the water. It can even be more exciting to try out the individual surf and sailing activities such as pedalboats and “Stand Up Paddling”.
Were are looking forward to vour visit!
