July 22-July 31 2011
Travemünde, GER
In less than one week, Lübeck will be again the center of the sailing world, when Travemünde Week kicks off. Travemünde Week is one of the world's biggest sailing events, in its 122nd edition and Marinepool is back as exclusive apparel partner. This successful partnership is already in the seventh season and has just been extended until 2015.
The Munich-based company, is one of the leading producers of sailing gear and maritime fashion, and kits out the organization of the Travemünde Week since 2005. The company is on site with a 200m² event store, where the entire Marinepool product range on offer. In addition, Marinepool keeps up with a tradition and presents the new 2001 Travemünde Week collection.

Marinepool´s presence extends also to the race courses where the brand is title sponsor of the Marinepool J22 European Championship.
Agile, fast, secure and with tough competition, the J/22 promises sailing at it´s best. The J22 is one of the world`s most popular One-Design classes. Impressed by the concept presented by the German J22 class, a partnership between the class association, Marinepool and Travemuende Week was established to co-organize the European Championship. One question remains though. Whether during this championship some of the German crews will be able to challenge the hot-shots for the top-spots, and break the dominance of Dutch sailors.
Further Marinepool is also clothing partner of the Folke Boats, holding their World Championship and the Moth Class, crowning its European Champion during Travemuende Week.
Moth action right next to the shore! Organizers expect approximately 70 of these fast runabouts for the Nordea Moth Europeans. They make for an impressive image when it is windy and the fastest of the “Mothies” are “flying” around the course with up to 30 knots.
On the first Saturday at Travemünde Sailing Week the moth sailors will start their championship with a “dash for cash race” at the Sailing Arena Trave, right in front of the spectators. Short Races with only four sailors per group on this small course are easy to follow and will create a challenging and exciting atmosphere. The sailors have to perform quick maneuvers and in the end the most agile sailor will win the prize. Those who will be able to “fly” the maneuvers without “dipping” the boat (the moth is a so called foiler, featuring wings on daggerboard and rudder, lifting the boat out of the water at speed) will extend their lead on the small course.
The regular races will take place from 25th to 29th July at the racecourse "hotel" perfectly watchable from the “Mecklenburger Ufer”. The German Moth sailors pin their hopes especially on Sven Kloppenburg, Markus Steeg and Frederik Schmid who ruled the German moth class last season. But also Hannes Peckholt former 49er sailor and Moth-newbie will hopefully have a say in this matter.
The 122nd Travemünde Week again has plenty to offer, don´t miss out on the action!
You are invited to visit the Marinepool stand in the center of the event village and get the latest Travemünde polo or cap! We look forward to meeting you!
