Allianz Traunsee Week 2011 presented by BMW
Austria's most popular sailing event, the Allianz Traunsee Week, is being held from May 28 to June 5 on the picturesque Traunsee an Alpine lake in Upper Austria.
2011 is already the eight edition of this top sailing event and brings 900 sailors in 400 boats and 13 boat classes from twelve countries to the area, turning the lake into a sea of colorful sails.
The highlights of this year´s Traunsee Week are without a doubt the world championships in Tempest Class (Sailing Club Ebensee) and Platu25 Class (Union Boat ClubTraunsee) from May 28 to 3 June.
For the first time this year Allianz Traunseewoche will also have a yardstick regatta course (a handicap formula for different yachts and classes), organized by Gmunden ASKÖ Sailing - new as the 5th Club in the family of Traunsee week.
Another highlight is the hosting of the continental qualifications of the ISAF Nations Cup is - the most important match-race series in the world is coming for the first time ever to Traunsee.
